Neil Gilks

Born and educated in England but living and loving in the city of New York. His revealing lines explore active bodies, suggest heated moments, and persistent memories. While his drawings address universal themes of longing, inadequacy, the positivity of selfishness, and carnal reward.

The physicality and weight of the line carry the weight of the story.

The British creative living in New York studied Fashion Design at Central St. Martins and has enjoyed a career in design and illustration for almost two decades. In recent years, their drawings of men, beards, and genitalia have garnered them many admirers; they appreciate this recognition, especially regarding the themes they love.

Someone once commented that the artist’s work conveys much more than just the number of lines. They aim to have their audience connect with their work beyond the image, to understand or feel with the slightest touch. By reducing information, they express a lot with a little. The physicality and weight of the line carry the weight of the story.
