Legal Documents of The Queer Museum Foundation

For The Queer Museum, transparency is an essential part of its public responsibility as a non-profit institution dedicated to supporting, connecting and giving visibility to queer artists, especially those from contexts where artistic circulation may be limited by social, political, legal or economic barriers.

The Queer Museum is incorporated in Chile under the legal name Fundación The Queer Museum or Fundación Museo de la Diversidad Sexual. Its statutes received legal approval through Resolution SM No. 546/2025 of the Municipality of Las Condes, dated 23 September 2025. The entity is registered with the Chilean Civil Registry as a non-profit foundation, under registration No. 384980, with legal personality granted on 1 October 2025. Its legal representative in Chile is Juan José Ramdohr Lepori, who serves as President of the Foundation.

Brief History

The Queer Museum takes its name in homage to the exhibition Queermuseu, which was censored in Brazil in 2017 following pressure from conservative groups. The project began in Brazil in 2020 as a way to help local queer artists stay connected and sell their work. It initially operated as an informal network; in 2022, it was consolidated as a transnational web platform; and in 2025, it obtained legal personality in Chile as a non-profit foundation. The museum is directed by Cheo González, artist, curator and founder of the project.

Their publication allows artists, collaborators, cultural institutions, donors and interested communities to verify the legal existence of The Queer Museum and to understand the legal framework through which it develops its curatorial, educational and LGBTQIA+ artist-support projects.
